A Rainbow of Owls

Did you know that a group of owls is called a parliament? That sounds very serious, so I would prefer to call mine a rainbow of owls.

This is a new venture, as I decided to have a go at a sewing pattern. I did intend my blog to be a mixture of everything, but I have rather got hung up on the knitting.  I decided to start with something fairly simple, but even for my little owl the process of making the pattern, has been a learning curve. Have I mentioned that I am a little bit computer phobic? One of the ideas of having a blog was to face my computer fears. So the process of drawing and scanning the pattern pieces, and then making logical written instructions, with photographs to help, has been difficult.

But I love my little group of owls. I'm not sure if they are meant to be or toy or an ornament.  Definitely not a toy for anyone very young, because of the button eyes, but I think a lot of bigger kids might like a row of colourful owls on their windowsill. Or it could just be a little pincushion.

You can find the pattern in my Etsy Shop.

  2. The owls are great. But I'd love to know more about cat loves his fish. I can't find him anywhere on your blog. I there a pattern? Did you make him? I'm fascinated! Do tell, won't you?

  3. I did make him, but he isn't my own design. I found the pattern in a book that I got from the library called "Sew It, Stuff It" by Rob Merrett, and made a cat and fish at Christmas out of fleece for my nephew. He is meant to be slightly educational as children can practice doing buttons with the one on the arms. Then what usually happens when I make anything, my daughter wanted me to make one for her, which is the one in the photo. The cat in the book is even cuter, as I sewed the face on a bit too high on mine. Hope you can find the book. It was published in 2010.

  4. Thanks, Ginny! I found the book on Amazon (of course). Making things - it almost gets to be a burden, the need to put things together. I sure appreciate what you've written on your blog, and your answer here.

  7. Your owls are gorgeous, I am sure that many children would like a little group of these somewhere in their room. Wouldn't they make a lovely mobile?
