I am not very good with houseplants. I blame my house, which doesn't have windowsills, so it is hard to position pot plants near the light. But with these lovely orchids I seem to have developed greenfingers. They were given to me at school back in July, and still look magnificent. I said as a joke to the teacher who gave them to me that perhaps they were plastic, and she looked horrified for a few moments, until she realized that I was just pulling her leg. Aren't they lovely!
I like the idea of blaming the house for not being able to raise house plants. Excellent. Last year I visited Florida and in the Tampa area there is a Buddhist temple. At the Sunday market the sell all manner of orchids. These remind me of those. So beautiful. Thanks for sharing them. Have a great day!
Awesome job with the nice crisp photos and for keeping them alive. I always thought orchids would be hard to keep alive but I guess they aren't impossible to keep alive inside.
Beautiful photos of beautiful orchids. I've never had success with these flowers, even when we lived in Florida. Either I over-water them or the lighting isn't right or something else leads to their demise. Congratulations on your newly discovered green thumb! My Saturday Snapshots are from the Cinque Terre.
Good Job! I have two orchids, that are just barely "staying alive". All the petals are gone. My sister has great success with orchids and I keep hoping her green thumb will rub off. But not yet. Glad you are having success!! What ever you are doing, it must be right!
Those are beautiful! My theory is that we have affinity for certain plants, even if others find them difficult to grow. My mother had a knack for African violets and my grandma for baby's tears. So far, my only talent is philodendrons, but I'm hoping I just haven't discovered the more special and rare plant that is meant to be mine.
Your orchids are beautiful and your photo is quite lovely. Maybe you have found your niche in growing orchids. They are lovely flowers that last a long time. Have a wonderful week :)
Beautiful pictures - I have just developed an interest in orchids as I have managed to keep one alive past flowering and better still a new leaf is appearing!!

ReplyDeleteThey are lovely! I've never tried to grow orchids--maybe I'll give it a shot soon.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous orchids. Our one died after flowering for a very long time. Put it away and it's started growing again after some months!
