Pirate Noodler
The school production of Peter Pan is next week. My daughter has the part of Noodler, one of Captain Hook's crew. So I just thought you might like to see her costume. She is wearing one of my blouses, and a handmade waistcoat. I sewed it from a suedette fabric (not real suede). It was not too difficult to fit the metal eyelets. They came with a tool, and you had to bash with a hammer. (Very satisfying.) And the tie is just a really long shoelace. You might also notice that Noodler is wearing a Canadian bandana, but I am hoping that by the time she is on the stage it will give the right effect.
I told her that she looks a bit more medieval serving wench than pirate, but she was very happy with the look. You can't see the bottom half unfortunately, but we found a long pair of boots in a charity shop, to add to the costume.
She turned down my other suggestions. You know the sort of thing: beard, eyepatch, parrot etc. Probably just as well as she has to make a quick change and become a lost boy later in the show, which I forgot to photograph. But maybe I will be able to get some photos at the show.
Thank you for the all the kind messages last week. I am very much recovered, and back to my needles.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
I forgot to show you my daughter dressed in her costume for World Book Day last week. It is her last year at primary school, so probably her last chance to dress up for World Book Day. Although I made the outfit, it was her own idea. This was her sketch of what she wanted. Once again, thanks to the lovely shop Fabricland, the outfit only cost a few pounds to make.
And here is me in my outfit for the day: The Ugly Duckling. I do love my job.

Dahlicious Girl and Dressing Up
She looked so funny, and was so excited. I love it now that she takes the lead with dress-up days, and tells me what she needs. My son used to loathe dressing up, until almost the last year of primary school, when he suddenly seemed to get that it was all just a bit of fun.
I have put together as many of the old dress-up day pictures as I could find. There are a few missing, as I think they were pre-digital camera. I love putting together an outfit.
But when I worked at my daughter's school I also had to come up with an outfit for myself as well. Strangely I don't have any photos of those. The funniest occasion was when I bumped into an old friend on the way home in my Winnie the Witch purple and black stripey tights, and cape. She was looking at me very strangely, until I reassured her they weren't my usual clothes.
Linking to Saturday Snapshot. I can't believe I forgot to link last week. Meant to put my Sand Dollar post on, but homework just seems to take over the weekends these days. Sigh!
