Love Heart Phone Cosies

One last batch of iphone/phone cosies, and then I am definitely moving on. I decided to have a go at something a bit more graphic with simple colours, that I hope might appeal to teenagers. So these are the Love Heart Cosies. The colours really are this bright.

The embroidered hearts are made up of lots of hand-embroidered french knots. It is fun slowly building up the knotty area, and the padding of the knots give a bit of extra protection to the phone or iphone. I have found them really quite hard to photograph, but hope you can tell how thick and luscious the hearts are.

The top of the cosy is so stretchy it is really easy to get your iphone in and out, but tight enough so it won't fall out. If you want to make your own my pattern is still available free on ravelry, and my tutorial on french knots is in my right sidebar.

These are really aimed at my forthcoming craft fairs, but I may put a few in my Etsy shop. I am toying with the idea of something for the boys. Perhaps an embroidered skull made up of knots, as there do seem a lot of skulls around. Can't quite decide, as time is running out, and also my son insists that no self-respecting boy would want any sort of knitted cosy for his phone. He's probably right!

Something For The Ladies ...

Poppy and Forget-me-nots

I am still making for my Christmas stall, and realised that although I have quite a lot of things for children, perhaps I should have a few more things for the ladies. So I have been busy making these hand-knitted and embroidered phone or ipod cosies. I am having great fun deciding which flowers to embroider.

I have improved my previous phone cosy pattern. It is now knitted completely the other way up, starting at the rib top. The top is now more stretchy, which makes it easier to get your phone in and out. The bottom is now grafted like the toe of a sock, which I think makes it just a bit neater. I am going to put it on ravelry and Craftsy as a free pattern once I have typed it up.

Forget-me-not

These cosies, which will fit either an ipod touch, iphone, or a mobile phone that is approx 11cm by 6cm, can be found in my Etsy Shop. There are a few more on the way. I would love to know if you have any ideas for flowers which you think might be appealing?

Minecraft iPhone Cosy

I have at last finished my Minecraft iPhone cosies. As with quite a lot of my knits I start off all enthusiastic at the initial creative bit. I have an idea, and then sit with my needles and wool, working out the best way to make it.

But then it gets to the checking bit. I knit some samples, but then I get insecure. So I think I had better knit a few more, just to check that there are no errors in the pattern or notes.  So now I have a small pile of iPhone cosies.

I then get a bit worried about the photos. The natural light has been terrible today, so I am not totally happy, but it is done ....

In the end I decided to do just one size, so the cosy fits an iPhone, an iPod touch, and a mini smartphone. But there are three separate charts for creeper, zombie or skeleton versions. I am rather fond of the skeleton version myself.

My son is not convinced that there is much overlap between Minecraft fans and knitters.
