Selfie

I'm not very keen on photos of myself. Apart from all the predictable reasons, I tend to shut my eyes when I'm being photographed. We had our photos taken at school last week for new i.d. badges, and while everyone else just got snapped, it took eight attempts before the photographer got one without me squinking.

So this is the closest I am going to get to a self-portrait. It does sort of sum me up though. But I am still not very happy. Shouldn't I go in at least a bit at the waist?

  3. That's the kind of selfie I'd take of myself too. I have the same, "eyes closed" in most photos! I hate that!. You put a smile on my face this morning.

  6. I like taking pictures of my shadow. Last week, I saw an photo self portrait of the photographer's shadow at the St. Louis Art Museum -- it was more layered and beautiful than mine, but I was glad to see that I'm on the right track!

  9. Shadow selfie's are my favourite too. I like how you can blame the sun and distortion and fractured light and perspective on any parts of your shadow that you don't like so much :-D

  11. Fantastic photo. Great idea for a selfie. I hate photos of myself too so very few of them exist. I'm just happy with the picture I have of myself in my head realistic or not!!

  12. I like shadow selfies too, and indeed had one as my Facebook profile picture for much of this year. Selfie was just nominated as the word of the year this week. It seems it was an Australian invention! They interviewed the young man who coined the term 10 years ago, or whenever it was, and he looked very uncomfortable with all the attention.

  13. Taking photographs of one's own shadow is a brilliant idea - much better than the original. Hope your week is going well.
