My Sparkly Mittens

I have knitted myself some fingerless mittens, and have gone for elegant black with a bit of sparkle. I just love this wool.

Two of my local wool shops have closed recently, and in the town where I live that does not leave a lot of choice. (I guess it is so easy to buy wool online these days.) There is still the famous "never knowingly undersold" department store, and although it has a fairly big choice, is not particularly good value

So when I occasionally see wool in any other shop I always have a good look. This wool was from Poundland, although unusually I think it may have been £2 a ball. Totally acrylic, but for gloves something hard-wearing and washable seems like a good thing. What I love is the flecks of sparkle. Did you know it is really hard to photograph sparkle, but I hope you can see it.

  1. These look really cool!! Nice work there.

  2. Love the yarn you've used and can't beat a fingerless glove. I'm super excited by your sleeves in the first pic - I want whatever you're wearing ;D #handmademonday

    1. Ha, ha. It is a hand-me-down from my sister's step daughter, given to my daughter, but she didn't want it, so I nabbed it. It is a really pretty cardigan, and I am quite happy to be a "Second-Hand Rose".

  3. They look very cute, and who would have thought of Poundland for wool - what a find!

  4. I love the bit of sparkle! I am lucky that I have one local yarn shop. I try to buy from there every so often. I do love going to the out of town ones that carry more yarns to my tastes.

  5. They look great! You did a wonderful job, and I do love the yarn. Thank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party this week. Pinned!

  6. Very classy.
We have the same problems here, one great but tiny wool shop in our city and a large craft superstore with a limited but slightly pricy selection (although their offers can be great) I've found some of our local charity shops get wool in now and again but it can be a bit hit and miss. We have a Aldi that sometimes has wool too and I've heard good things but not tried it myself yet.
I do buy online but sometimes you want to feel it first don't you? Or is that just me?!
