My Bargain Beads

My local bead shop, Bead Time, had a sale a few weeks ago. (I'm in there quite a lot, as they sell ribbons and cord, and all sorts of other useful things. It is very hard though not to come out with a few beads as well.)

As many beads as you could fit in a small plastic bag for £1. Never one to miss a bargain, so I picked and crammed in beads. So above you see my £2 worth of beads. It may be hard to tell from my photo, but these are really beautiful beads, lots of them made of glass. I sort of wish I had gone back and bought some more ...

So here are some of my beading projects. I've made the necklaces threaded on elastic thread, and they are both for my Mum. I thought it would be easier for her than fiddly fastenings. And I've still got stacks of beads left for some more projects ...

  1. What a wonderful bargain. I wish we had a bead shop near us, I would visit it so often. There's something about a tray of mixed beads that makes me so happy.

  2. Great find! I had some green glass beads like your orange leaf ones years and years ago and have been looking for some ever since. They came in a kit to make a Christmas wreath ornament. Lovely projects (and don't you love the almost immediate gratification from beading?)

  5. So much fun! Thanks for sharing on craft schooling sunday! I actually just made a very simple necklace for my daughter who needed a burgundy accent to go with the burgundy skirt she has just sewn herself. In my stash I found some burgundy crystal beads and some larger pink ones and spaced them out on a chain that I crocheted from gold thread, namely the beads were crocheted into the chain. it was so simple and with gorgeous results.

  7. Wow what a bargain. I'm sure your mum will be thrilled to receive these and what a good idea using elastic so she doesn't have to fuss with fiddly fastenings :)

  8. What beautiful beads! Some of the leaf beads look like beach glass which has been rolled around and has the edges rounded. Your necklaces are really lovely. I'm feeling a little inspired to go out and buy some glass beads!
