How to Sew Satin Stitch

Satin stitch is really useful.  I like using it for leaves and petals, but it is very versatile, and once you have the hang of it you can use it for many shapes or areas of colour.

Make your first stitch

For this leaf I make the second stitch slightly wider

Continue. Try to make sure the stitches lie flat and close together
