Suffolk
A few more photographs from our trip to Suffolk at Easter. The beach huts at Southwold are very cheerful. These sometimes sell for over £100,000, and although lovely I think I would prefer to sit on the beach. Well at least that is what I'm saying.
The view south from Southwold Pier. It was such a lovely fresh day. Can you see Sizewell Nuclear Power Station in the background?
And finally some shots from Minsmere RSPB nature reserve. These are Avocets. This wader with its distinctive upturned beak, have come back from the brink of extinction in Britain. And so quite rightly they are also the emblem of the RSPB.

Those beach huts are adorable and the water is lovely and sparkly. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I had never heard of a Avocot before but they are a nice looking bird. We have a city named Suffolk nearby but it doesn't look anything like what you posted as it is a good 50 miles from the seaside. Its mostly farms and forests.

Love the each huts - they are so colorful but like you, I think I would rather be on the beach :)
ReplyDeleteThe Avocets look so graceful and elegant! And I adore the beach huts. Thanks for sharing...and here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! The huts are adorable, but I'm with you--I'd rather be on the beach!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your beautiful photos. I especially like the colorful beach huts. I've never seen any like that. The Avocets are gorgeous too -- such striking markings. Congratulations to those who worked to bring them back from extinction.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen an Avocet - what a cool looking bird. The beach huts are charming, but I'd rather be out on the beach too (as long as it wasn't cold or windy!).
ReplyDeleteLove the beach huts and the words. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Saturday Snapshot post!!
Oh my, I love the photo of the cheerful beach cabins. And the shorebirds are a type I've never seen before.
ReplyDeleteI love that first picture! Postcard quality. ;) And the Avocets, don't think I'll ever see them here in my area, Alberta, Canada. But we have gulls, lots of them. Thanks so much for sharing your part of Nature with us.
ReplyDeleteIf I were there, I would watch the Avocet all day. :-) Quite the distinguished birds! I'm glad they've been brought back from the brink of extinction.
ReplyDeleteI love the little beach huts--we have some of them here in New Zealand, too, and I find them all quite fascinating. Those birds are simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteChoice shots indeed...the Avocets sre intriguing; glad they are reviving well! http://lauriekazmierczak.com/life-in-a-slow-lane/
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE that beach hut pic! So colourful and great perspective. I am also surprised (and pleased) that they still exist. I want one!!
ReplyDeleteSuch interesting birds! And imagine that much worth for a beach shanty ... they are pretty colors and chipper looking though!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen an avocet either, how wonderful to hear a good news story about bird numbers though, it looks an amazing place.
